This year, many shows and productions are happening in December that you don’t want to miss out on. 

The Nutcracker

The beloved Christmas classic “The Nutcracker” returns to the National Arts Centre this Holiday Season! 

A single gift from Clara’s godfather kicks off an amazing adventure. When the enchanted nutcracker mysteriously comes to life during the night, the stage is set for a tale filled with charm, nostalgia and magic. From a battle with the fiendish Mouse King to the opulent kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the costumes, choreography and characters in this production are sure to enchant your eyes and your heart.

Christmas Goose 2023

The 21st Annual Christmas Goose Concert in support of the Ottawa Food Bank. A two set concert in a “song circle” format featuring songs and performances by Pat Moore, Tyler Kealey, Tom Lips, Chris MacLean and Don Bray, Jennifer Noxon, Ray Harris, and John Hanson, along with the NAC’s back-up band.

Masters in the Hall – Celtic Music for Christmastime

North American Irish Fiddle Champion Kyle Burghout joins forces with flute/whistle player Justin Thériault, and Celtic harpist Susan Toman. These three amazing artists will be at the NAC performing a collection of traditional and contemporary Celtic music from Ireland, Scotland, and Canada. 

The concert will feature music specially selected for the holiday season, with accompanying anecdotes about the history of the tunes and stories from the trio’s travels. This is a rare opportunity for audiences to hear three of Ottawa’s leading traditional musicians perform together in concert.

Damien Robitaille 

Damien Robitaille presents his brand new show, Bientôt ce sera Noël, directed by Laurent Paquin. Since March 2020, the singer–songwriter has taken to social networks to perform more than 300 songs of the day to his fans. He and his musicians are sure to deliver a lively and imaginative show. It’s going to be magical!

Home Alone in Concert 

A true holiday favourite, this beloved comedy classic features renowned composer John Williams’ charming and delightful score performed live to picture by the NAC Orchestra. 

Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister, an 8-year-old boy who’s accidentally left behind when his family leaves for Christmas vacation, and who must defend his home against two bungling thieves. Hilarious and heart-warming, Home Alone is holiday fun for the entire family!

A Tyler Shaw Christmas 

Tyler Shaw is one of this country’s most enduring talents and you have a chance to see him live at the National Arts Centre! 

In 2021, Tyler released his first holiday album A Tyler Shaw Christmas, which was nominated for a JUNO award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year. That year, Tyler toured extensively with The Tenors on their holiday tour, staking his claim as Canada’s (Pop) Prince of Christmas. In 2022, Tyler released “This Christmas,” which spent three consecutive weeks in the #1 spot on Canadian radio. This year, Tyler is set to release new holiday music and is embarking on a headlining Christmas tour to celebrate the holidays with Canadians.

Christmas with The Tenors 

Canada’s most beloved vocal group, The Tenors, bring back your favourite holiday tradition with their Christmas with The Tenors Tour in support of their brand new album “Christmas with The Tenors!” The live show is a joyous representation of the album which uplifts your spirits, reignites cherished Christmas memories, and will provide the soundtrack for new ones. Join the celebration this holiday season!

Céleste Lévis

Accompanied by her musicians, Céleste Lévis invites you to an evening of fun for the whole family. She will sing, with her soft yet powerful voice, the most beautiful Christmas songs from her original Christmas album as well as some essential holiday covers. It will be an evening not to be missed around the piano, just like her early days at her grandfather’s house.

Handel’s Messiah

George Frideric Handel’s Messiah is undoubtedly one of the most cherished choral works of Western music, exuding joy and humanity from start to finish and celebrating our relationship with the divine.

GRAMMY Award–winning conductor Jeannette Sorrell is recognized internationally as one of today’s best interpreters of Baroque and Classical repertoire. Sorrell founded the renowned chamber orchestra Apollo’s Fire, which has performed sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall, the BBC Proms, the Tanglewood Festival, and others.

The Cantata Singers of Ottawa have performed every year with the NAC Orchestra since the NAC opened in 1969. They are joined on stage by the Capital Chamber Choir, which has distinguished itself as one of Ottawa’s premier small vocal ensembles.

Good Lovelies Christmas Concert

A trio of songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, and gorgeous harmonizers, Good Lovelies are known for their upbeat roots-soul sound. This year, with songs from their new album We Will Never Be The Same, classic holiday songs, and timeless winter selections from their annual Christmas show, the Good Lovelies are a guaranteed good (and lovely) time!

Broadway Across Canada Presents: Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations

Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations is the electrifying, new smash-hit Broadway musical that follows The Temptations’ extraordinary journey from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. With their signature dance moves and silky-smooth harmonies, they rose to the top of the charts creating an amazing 42 Top Ten Hits with 14 reaching number one.
