Seven Places to Enjoy Fresh Pizza in Downtown Ottawa

December 15, 2023

While Rideau Street and the ByWard Market are home to hundreds of restaurants that represent a varied array of cultures and cuisines, many of them still have a strong appreciation for the most classic of all comfort foods – pizza!

You might be surprised to learn that pizza actually has a storied history here on Rideau Street. Imbro’s Restaurant which once stood at the corner of Rideau and Friel, debuted their “Home Made Pizza” in 1954, making them the first restaurant to serve pizza in the Nation’s Capital!

Today, you can find several restaurants in the ByWard Market that are serving up the beloved dish, hot and fresh. Whether you’re a fan of more unconventional toppings like feta cheese and Genoa salami or just looking to get a tried-and-true classic pepperoni, there’s a multitude of options available to pizza lovers who find themselves in the Ottawa’s Original Downtown. Read on to discover seven of them!

3 Brothers Shawarma & Poutine

Most people who venture into either of 3 Brothers’ locations on Rideau Street are looking to pick up a platter of some of Ottawa’s most delicious shawarma for themselves. This is quite the esteemed honour when you consider that Ottawa likely has more shawarma and falafel restaurants than anywhere else outside of the Arab World, according to an article by the Ottawa Citizen.

With that said, not everyone is aware that 3 Brothers also offers an extensive selection of pizza to its customers. And rest assured, the quality and flavour that is always apparent is every serving of shawarma from 3 Brothers is just as present in their pizza!
