We’re wishing everyone in Ottawa’s Original Downtown a very happy National Hamburger Day!  Whether you prefer a couple of sliders for a light lunch or a massive two-hander that’s decked out with the works, there’s a burger with your name on it in the downtown core – there are even incredible options for vegetarians and vegans as well!

The Albion Rooms

The Albion Rooms is a restaurant with a world-class pedigree made possible by the tireless efforts of Chef Rene Rodriguez and his crew. Their menu highlights the best that European and Canadian cuisine has to offer, including their selection of burgers made with ingredients sourced from local producers. Clocktower Brew Pub

For over 25 years, Clocktower Brew Pub has been a staple of Ottawa’s restaurant scene with their outstanding craft beers, all made in-house, and their fantastic menu. All of their burgers are adorned with fresh toppings as well as their signature Clocktower Sauce, and they also have a vegetarian burger made with a delicious black bean patty. Milestones has long prided itself as being one of the first choices to celebrate a major achievement in life, hence its name. Lovers of all things related to cheese will feel right at home at Meltwich on Dalhousie Street! Cheese might just be one of (if not the) most important toppings that go on a burger, and Meltwich takes this theory to the extreme by incorporating tons of cheese into every one of their deliciously ooey-gooey menu items. To this end, their burgers are all made with certified Angus beef, brioche buns and as many as seven different types of cheeses to choose from. This place is truly a dairy lover’s delight!

While it’s true that many of the restaurants on this list offer vegetarian and/or vegan options for burger lovers, nobody in Ottawa’s Original Downtown does plant-based cuisine quite like Pure Kitchen! Their menu is packed with a wide selection of carefully crafted dishes designed to maximize flavour and healthiness. If you decide to stop by but find yourself craving a burger, you’re in luck!
