Nigamon/Tunai is a powerful poetic manifesto by Émilie Monnet (Anishinaabe/French) and Waira Nina (Inga Nation, Colombian Amazon). This immersive performance invites you to sit on stage with the artists, surrounded by living trees, pools of water, and copper instruments that sing with flowing water. At the heart of the work is a confrontation with the destruction of water and land in the Colombian Amazon caused by Canadian mining companies extracting copper—a mineral sacred to Anishinaabe culture. Using voice, breath, movement, and song in Spanish, French, English, Anishinaabemowin, and Inga, the artists create a ceremony that makes Indigenous resistance tangible.
