Mandala Spotlight: Unveiling Mandala on Stage

September 9 @4:00pm

Arts & Entertainment, Convention & Major Events

As part of the Mandala Project, this evening features an enthralling showcase of IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, and People of Color) artists, celebrating their rich contributions to Ottawa’s performing arts and music scene. This event is a testament to the diversity and creativity within Ottawa’s IBPOC community, offering a captivating array of genres that span from jazz and folk to classical and spoken word poetry.

Doors open at 4:00pm. The showcase is approximately 4 hours in length, and artist merchandise will be on sale after the show. Bottles of water will be available by donation, and we encouraged everyone to bring a water bottle and use the Gallery's water refilling stations. Food and drinks will not be available at the event, and alcohol is not permitted.

Prior to attending, guests can find many restaurants close by including Norca Restaurant and Bar and The Albion Rooms. The Jackson Café inside of the Ottawa Art Gallery will not be open. Norca et The Albion Rooms. Le Jackson Café, situé à l'intérieur de la Galerie d'art d'Ottawa, ne sera pas ouvert.

Unveiling Mandala on Stage is a pay-what-you-can event. Donations will focus on another year of celebrating IBPOC performing arts. The donations will go towards Mandala Spotlight 2024 for local artists (you!), artist’s respectful remuneration, and partnering with local IBPOC collectives and nonprofits to support their celebration of diversity and inclusion.

If making a donation is a hardship for anyone who wishes to attend, please contact us in confidence at rebecca@ottawaartscouncil.ca.
