Kaspien
Kaspien is the indie/art rock music pseudonym of Ottawa-born artist Karim Rostom. With a deep passion for storytelling, Kaspien’s first EP, DIVER, explores themes of ocean conservation through the telling of a dark, nautical fable.
Pairing striking lyrics with dreamy and emotional melodies, Kaspien’s compositions are earnest and filled with purpose. As a composer, Kaspien has scored multiple short films, as well as an award-winning theatrical dance piece (NUIT, dir. Sophie Goyette-Hamels).
Kaspien also enjoys live performance, from putting on concerts alongside other musical creatives to showcasing as Jet Black Weekend in November of 2022.
Currently, Kaspien is focusing on the production of a collection of songs, interpreting the experiences of significant individuals in his life to explore the importance of compassion in writing.
