Wall Exhibits at The Underpass
Several times a year, the Downtown Rideau BIA (DRBIA) invites interest from the visual arts community to permit reproduction of their work for exhibit at The Underpass urban outdoor performance, artisan and exhibit venue at the corner of Rideau Street and Colonel By Drive -- as part of the DRBIA's public art program. Selected artists receive an honorarium and promotion of their work in Downtown Rideau promotional materials. At the conclusion of the exhibit, the DRBIA seeks a permanent location within the district to install the works for inclusion in the Downtown Rideau Culture Walk.
Interested artists may contact Patrick Bisson, Marketing Coordinator at underpass@downtownrideau.com with samples of their work for consideration by the DRBIA's Marketing Committee. Criteria must respond to the following:
- Be respectful of a "family rating" for viewing in public space.
- Be a local artist.
- Consist of local content, locations or inspired by (for example, not photo journalistic images of locations elsewhere in the world or world travvels, etc).
- We encourage though provoking works that capture the attention of a mobile audience, or works that support seasons and local history, personalities, characters, issues, etc
