The Ottawa Police Service conducted a two-day
Prostitution Sweep in the Centre Town and Vanier area on
September 16th & 17th. During this sweep, 27 females were
arrested and charged with Prostitution related Offences,
Mischief and Breach of release conditions.
Nine males were arrested, with four charged with
Prostitution offences and 5 released on Pre-Charge
Diversion (John School). One male was also charged with
possession for the purpose of trafficking 579 gr. of
cannabis.
A total of 77 criminal charges were laid.
The sweep was conducted by members of the Central West
Neighbourhood Office with the assistance of Patrol Officers
from Central Division.
